This connection, operating twice a week, integrates the Trieste terminal into Kombiverkehr’s broader international rail network.

Kombiverkehr has launched a new intermodal block train service connecting the HHLA PLT terminal in Trieste, Italy, with Munich Riem in Germany.

The service allows onward connections to key European hubs, including Duisburg, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, and Ludwigshafen, among others. Additionally, it extends towards the Benelux region, Scandinavia, Poland, and the Czech Republic, offering broader logistics options for customers seeking efficient cargo movement across Europe.

The introduction of this service is in response to Grimaldi Group’s new ferry route between Trieste and Ambarli, on the European side of Istanbul. Grimaldi Group’s new liner service, featuring two RoRo ships, provides two weekly departures from each port. This complements Kombiverkehr’s existing rail-ferry services to and from Pendik, Cesme, and Mersin, enabling broader connectivity between European and Turkish ports.
