ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava plans to add four more Siemens Vectron MS 383 electric locomotives to its fleet by the end of 2025.

This will bring the total number of these modern and interoperable machines in service with the ORLEN Unipetrol Group to eleven.

"This investment will enable us to strengthen our position in freight transport and ensure efficient connections to key terminals, mainly in Poland and Germany," says Jaroslav Dvořák, Executive Director of ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava.

Purchasing these modern locomotives is part of the strategic investment development in which ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava has invested hundreds of millions of crowns since 2017, when fleet replacement began.

Roman Kokšal, general director of Siemens Mobility Czech Republic, comments: "As part of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), from 2025 large companies will be obliged to consider the carbon footprint of the means of transport they use. According to the statistics of operational data, Vectron locomotives save about 10% of electricity when pulling freight trains through regenerative braking, thus increasing the economy of transport".

ORLEN Unipetrol's Vectron locomotives, with an output of 6,400kW and a common operating speed of 100km/h, mainly transport chemical products. These Vectrons can be operated not only in the Czech Republic, but also in all neighbouring countries - Poland, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Hungary.
