Work is scheduled to start in 2026 and conclude in 2029, with contract signature expected on 26 March 2026 if no appeals are lodged during the ongoing standstill period.

GRK has been selected by the Swedish Transport Administration for a bridge and substructure contract on the North Bothnia Line in northern Sweden, valued at approximately EUR 55m (SEK 595m).

The project is in the municipality of Robertsfors, 40–70 km north of Umeå. It covers around 14 km of track bed, construction of two stations and nine bridges, with an option for an additional bridge.

Scope includes ground cutting, embankments, stabilisation works and formation of the track bed, as well as bridge construction. Two of the bridges are wildlife crossings. The alignment runs largely through natural terrain, including peatland and rock.

The North Bothnia Line is a new 270 km coastal railway between Umeå and Luleå. The scheme has been divided into around 20–25 substructure contracts, with separate tenders for electrification, signalling, superstructure, station works and level crossings. Total project cost is estimated at approximately EUR 3.7bn (SEK 40bn).

GRK signed its first North Bothnia Line contract in December 2024, valued at approximately EUR 14.5m (SEK 158m), covering track bed and bridges between Pålböleån and Gryssjön in the municipality of Umeå. That project started at the end of 2025 and is due for completion in 2027.

As of December 2025, GRK Sverige AB’s order book in Sweden stood at approximately EUR 284m. Sweden is also progressing other major rail schemes, including upgrades to the Iron Ore Line, the East Link between Stockholm and Linköping, and the West Link tunnel in central Gothenburg.
