In parallel to the extra work on the section between Naklo Śląskie and Kalina, SYSTRA Poland will carry out additional work on the railway line, which runs from central to eastern Poland along a corridor that is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) program.

SYSTRA Poland has been awarded additional works on two significant projects aimed at modernizing the country’s railway network on behalf of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP PLK), the rail infrastructure arm of Polish State Railways (PKP).

At the end of September 2022, the companies signed an agreement on an additional scope of work to the main contract for the modernization of railway line 131. The work is to be carried out on the section between Nakło Śląskie and Kalina, which is part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor VI linking Chorzów Batory and Maksymilianowo.

The additional works will include a nature inventory for the application of a new decision on environmental conditions, the design of two more bridges, two viaducts, ten culverts, the reconstruction of a railway viaduct in Tarnowskie Góry and reinforcement of track systems capacity on the Kalety railway station.

As part of the second contract, which concerns the important line 12, several platforms are to be designed in seven locations, and the development of a program and spatial concept design for the overhead power supply line. Platforms will take into account the needs of people with reduced mobility and meet interoperability requirements. Under-track crossings will also be designed at three locations. Work on line 12, which runs from central to eastern Poland along a corridor that is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) program, will take place between Skierniewice and Łuków.

“These latest additions to two significant contracts are clear evidence of our client PKP PLK’s confidence in the expertise of our teams and their ability to carry out assignments involving many different competencies. I look forward to the successful completion of these additional tasks and to our continued contribution to the modernization of the country’s railway network,” said Marta Pięta, SYSTRA Poland Managing Director.
