The movement confirmed the start of operations at the newly built terminal.

BNSF Railway has handled the first loaded train to its new intermodal ramp in Oklahoma City, bringing containers for retailer Hobby Lobby on 31 December.

The facility occupies 42 acres and was prepared to support container flows between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and inland distribution points in Oklahoma City. Hobby Lobby is the initial customer using the ramp, routing imported cargo from Southern California ports to its local distribution network.

According to BNSF, the terminal is not reserved exclusively for one shipper. Other customers are expected to access the ramp for intermodal traffic, including export-oriented container flows heading towards the West Coast ports.

The Oklahoma City ramp expands BNSF’s intermodal footprint in the central United States and adds another rail option for shippers moving containers between coastal gateways and inland markets.
