KTM Berhad opens daily Perai–Perlis Inland Port link with first STC freight train

The inaugural train moved 40 containers in the 40-foot category, equal to 80 TEU.

Malaysian KTM Berhad has launched the STC (South Thai Cargo) rail connection between Perai and the Perlis Inland Port (PIP), introducing a daily freight pattern on the northern corridor. Multimodal Freight Sdn Bhd, a KTM Berhad subsidiary, handled the bookings for the first departure.

The service is planned as a daily rail option between Perai and PIP, offering an alternative to road-based flows in the region. KTM Berhad takes the route as a high-volume corridor with fixed scheduling designed to support supply chains and cross-border movements through the northern gateway.
