LTG Infra has launched an international tender for design services on the Rail Baltica section from Panevėžys to the Latvian border. The 54 km segment is the final missing link on the Lithuanian part of the corridor.

LTG Infra has announced an open international tender for the design of the European-gauge Rail Baltica line between Panevėžys and the Lithuanian–Latvian border. The section has a total length of approximately 54 km and represents the last remaining part required to complete the continuous main line across Lithuania.

Construction works on other parts of the corridor are already progressing. In 2025, LTG Infra signed contracts for construction on a 114 km section between Kaunas and Panevėžys, where preparatory works are under way. On the most advanced 9 km subsection, superstructure works have already started. Design activities are also ongoing on the section between the Lithuanian–Polish border and Kaunas, covering nearly 100 km of railway modernisation.

According to the LTG Group, the Panevėžys–Latvia section is critical for ensuring uninterrupted international rail traffic along the Poland–Lithuania–Latvia corridor. The aim is to select a design contractor and begin design work during next year, allowing subsequent construction phases to be prepared.

In parallel, additional design tenders are under way for infrastructure maintenance depots in Panevėžys and Kaunas, as well as for regional stations in Jonava and Gustonys. Further public procurement procedures for the design of individual railway objects are planned for the coming year.

Rail Baltica is the largest rail infrastructure project in the history of the Baltic States and a core project of the European Union’s TEN-T network. Once completed, the electrified European-standard gauge line will connect Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with Central and Western Europe, supporting passenger and freight transport as well as civil and military mobility.
