Railpool’s Alstom TRAXX DC3 locomotives for Italy are easily recognisable by the Italian tricolour on the bottom of the blue stripe in the corporate livery. Four of these locomotives are now operated by Captrain Italia. The two latest additions were delivered and handed over in Asti on 16 May 2023.
These locomotives, designated as Class 494, are equipped with the last mile module – i.e. a combustion engine for shunting on sidings and terminals. The operator plans to grow the fleet of these locomotives from Railpool to 19 overall.
The collaboration between the leasing company and the operator has been further enhanced thanks to a subsidiary of Captrain Italia, Tiber.co O.M.R. These locomotives' maintenance will be provided based on the long-term strategic agreement between Railpool and the maintenance centre.
