The procurement, valued at approximately €520 million, will be entirely financed by Île-de-France Mobilités.

SNCF Voyageurs has confirmed an additional order for 35 RER NG trains from Alstom for the RER E line within the Île-de-France Mobilités network.

The order is part of a 2017 framework agreement between SNCF Voyageurs and Alstom, which initially included 71 trains. Subsequent orders have brought the total to 166 trains—130 designated for the RER E line and 36 for the RER D line.

RER NG trains began operation on the RER E line in November 2023, with further rollouts on the RER D line expected by the end of 2024. The double-deck trains feature an open "boa" architecture, optimized passenger flow, wide doors, and dedicated wheelchair-accessible areas. Designed to enhance operational efficiency, the trains are equipped with eight motor bogies for improved acceleration and braking.

The project involves nine Alstom sites across France, including facilities in Valenciennes-Petite Forêt, Crespin, and others contributing components and design work. Each six-car trainset measures 112 meters in length and accommodates up to 1,563 passengers. Features include air-conditioning, USB charging ports, LED lighting, and advanced passenger information systems.
