DB Cargo Full Load Solutions is using its Italy Shuttle to combine road and rail transport between Italy and north-western Europe, with daily departures and new logistics capacity in Dinazzano.

DB Cargo Full Load Solutions, part of TRANSA Spedition, is operating a multimodal Italy Shuttle designed to connect industrial regions in Italy with markets in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The service combines flexible road transport for first and last mile operations with rail for the main leg. According to DB Cargo FLS, full and part loads of up to 25 tonnes can be moved with transit times of around six to eight days, depending on the destination.

One example is the transport of tiles from Italy for a German DIY retail chain. Goods from three production sites are collected by truck and brought to the Dinazzano terminal in Italy, where they are transferred onto Tamns wagons for rail transport.

The rail leg runs on fixed departures to the Limburg terminal in Germany. From there, goods are unloaded and distributed by truck to final destinations. Temporary storage in Limburg can also be used to meet fixed delivery windows.

The service is used for palletised goods, building materials, bulk goods, household appliances and big bags.

The logistics setup is also being expanded at the Italian end of the corridor. A new clay storage facility at Dinazzano, in the Sassuolo ceramic district, was launched in 2025 to support more stable supply chains for the tile industry.

The storage site covers around 2,000 square metres and has capacity for up to 12,000 tonnes. It is intended to help manage seasonal demand, short-term customer needs and disruptions in the transport chain.
