UZ Cargo Poland has completed a test transport of petroleum products from Mockava, Lithuania, to Yahodyn, Ukraine. The operator formed a train exceeding 2,150 tonnes of fuel, surpassing the previous maximum limit of 1,850 tonnes used on this route. This increase was made possible by operating under Class D infrastructure rules, which permit an axle load of 22.5 tonnes.
The route previously operated under Class C restrictions, limiting the total weight per shipment. By moving to Class D, the carrier increased the payload per train by approximately 16%. This standard aligns the cross-border corridor with European technical requirements for heavy freight operations.
The operation focuses on consolidating larger volumes of energy products to reduce transport costs per tonne. It utilizes the rail link between the Lithuanian transshipment terminal and the Ukrainian border. This corridor serves as a primary artery for fuel supplies entering Ukraine from Baltic refineries.
