The service handles both conventional wagonload shipments and combined transport (CT) units, covering a range of cargo types and shipment sizes.

Captrain Deutschland and LIT Speditions have started a daily intermodal rail service between Bremen and Stuttgart under their Smart Rail Logistics joint venture. The electric trains operate in both directions between the Roland Terminal in Bremen and Stuttgart Port, with additional links to Bremen-Sebaldsbrück and Sindelfingen.

Captrain provides rail traction, while LIT manages pre- and post-carriage by road between customer facilities, suppliers and terminals in the Bremen and Stuttgart regions.

The trains are hauled by electric locomotives equipped with integrated last-mile capability, allowing access to terminals and industrial sidings without additional shunting locomotives. This reduces handling steps and overall transit times.

The new connection expands an existing intermodal network operated jointly by the two companies. The service is open to additional shippers along the corridor between northern Germany and Baden-Württemberg.
