Rail Cargo Group (RCG) and Transfera d.o.o. form logistics partnership.

Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has taken another step in its expansion within the Serbian market by establishing a new forwarding company through a joint venture with Transfera d.o.o., Serbia's second-largest forwarding company. This agreement was formalized at the Austrian Embassy in Belgrade, with RCG holding a 51% stake and Transfera 49%. The collaboration will enable RCG to provide comprehensive logistics and forwarding services in Serbia, complementing its existing transit transport services.

The newly formed company, headquartered in Belgrade, will prioritize the development of intermodal logistics solutions. Plans are also in place to expand into conventional transport in the future. This follows the successful launch of the first freight train from the new intermodal terminal in Kruševac last November, which established a crucial rail link from Kruševac to Western Europe. This project was a result of the cooperation between RCG and Transfera.

Growth of the Serbian Market

The Serbian market is gaining traction and presents various opportunities for rail freight. Efforts to rebuild and modernize the railway infrastructure have been underway, including the construction of intermodal terminals, which are key to integrating Serbian railways into the broader European transport network. The rising demand for environmentally friendly transport solutions aligns with RCG's expansion strategy, which aims to strengthen connections between Serbia, Turkey, Greece, and major ports such as Hamburg and Rotterdam.

RCG's Own Traction in Serbia

Since mid-2023, RCG has been operating its own carrier company in Belgrade, marking its 13th such establishment. This allows RCG to provide international transport services within Serbia using its own locomotives and staff. The Belgrade location serves as a strategic hub, offering significant connections to the Western Balkans and Turkey.
