The Polish rail freight market is experiencing a succession of insolvency filings among carriers, with filings already made and others reportedly imminent.

At the turn of the year, an announcement in the Polish National Debtors Register showed that OST-WEST LOGISTIC POLAND submitted a petition for bankruptcy proceedings. According to the published filing, the request was lodged on 31 December 2025, Kolejowy Portal reports.

Operational data from the Polish Office of Rail Transport (UTK) for January–November 2025 suggest the carrier’s market share remained below 1 per cent. Financial records for the 2024 accounting year show a net loss of roughly EUR 2.7 million.

Officials associated with Cargoway have indicated that similar bankruptcy petitions “will soon be filed” with the court. In a released statement, the management noted sustained market challenges and constrained economic conditions as factors in the decision.

The statement from Cargoway noted that the decision followed efforts at restructuring and attempts to preserve the companies’ operations, but did not specify details about the scale of operations or financial results. UTK operational statistics currently do not list recent activity figures for Cargoway, making it difficult to assess the extent of services the company has performed in recent months.
