Last week, an international freight train loaded with 90 standard containers of export goods departed from Fangshan District of Beijing to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

This marks the official launch of Beijing’s first Central Asia freight train.

The train was organised and operated by Beijing New Land Port Supply Chain and China Railway Container Transportation (CRCT) provides full transport services. The train carrying goods from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, is expected to arrive in Tashkent in about 10 days via Khorgos Port in Xinjiang, covering a distance of more than 5,000 kilometres.

Beijing has developed synergistically with Tianjin and Hebei Province in terms of operating China-Europe/Central Asia freight trains. Data show that in 2024, more than 600 trips of China-Europe/Central Asia train launched from Tianjin and 839 trips from Shijiazhuang of Hebei Province.
