Freight train derailed in Russia due to outside interference

A freight train has derailed in the Volgograd region due to the intervention of unauthorised persons, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant.

Kommersant reports that the train derailed near the Kotluban railway station at around 1am. There are no casualties. Emergency services are working on the scene.

The cause of the derailment was allegedly a drone attack.

Also according to the "Base" Telegram account, two cars of fuel caught fire as a result of the drone attack. Preliminary reports indicate that one tank wagon exploded. There was a fuel spill and grass caught fire.

In total, 9 wagons of the train went off the rails. At the moment, the fire has been localised, but not completely extinguished, Russian media report.
