Testing of the first Class 93 tri-mode locomotive for Rail Operations Group has commenced at Stadler's test facility in Valencia, Spain.

As part of this project, an initial 10 locomotives will be delivered to Rail Operations Group for use on the UK rail network.

The first Class 93 tri-mode locomotive for Rail Operations Group has completed the planned activities at Stadler's facilities in Valencia, Spain and will be transported to the UK for further testing shortly, once the necessary acceptance procedures with the relevant authorities have been completed.

Commenting on the locomotives, David Burley, Chief Executive Officer, Rail Operations Group, said: "The Class 93 fleet, with its array of green credentials, will allow us to lead the way in helping the rail industry meet its decarbonisation targets. In addition, the Class 93s, with their impressive state-of-the-art specification, will allow us to diversify and develop new markets while modernising many aspects of UK rail operations".

The locomotives will reduce CO2 emissions for both rail freight and potential passenger services.
